Perhaps the most sobering type of realization that a person can have is the need for improving his or her self through a process known as personal growth. While there are different approaches and different formulas for success and riches, the principals involved remain the same in all.
Being open to change and ready to face the unknown are two crucial aspects of any program that leads to self-improvement and personal growth. For many the prospect of change is exciting, but only some can really appreciate and take upon themselves the effort, overcome the challenges and take the actions necessary to bring about change that is profound and lasting.
The prospect of letting go of old habits, old perceptions and other, undesirable, personal traits may be scary for some and will require an intense re-conditioning, while others embrace all the above easily and gracefully.
To achieve success in any aspect of life, one must be willing to redo that which did not work in the past. It is by learning to look at the same thing from a different perspective; changing the way you were conditioned to think and evaluate situations that any meaningful change can come to life.
The Meaning of Success
Success is a relative term with many different interpretations. Some consider having the basics in life, namely food, shelter, a loving family and a steady job as success, while others measure success by the amount of money they were able to amass. The larger, more encompassing definition of success takes a holistic approach whereby all aspects of personal developments such as expansion of self-awareness, self-knowledge, renewal of identity, improving potential and human capital, improving wealth and spiritual development are mastered.
First Embrace Then Change
If there is a personal trait, attitude, habit or addiction in your life you would like to change or overcome, the first thing you must do is acknowledge it. Look at whatever it is that you dislike about yourself with the same love and compassion you would have for child who has made a mistake. And with the same forgiveness you would have for that child, forgive yourself. You must first embrace whatever it is in your life that you want to change, before you can actually change it.
Invest Yourself in Your Personal Growth
After defining for yourself the meaning of success, make a commitment to invest yourself in your personal growth. If your definition of success is amassing wealth then go for it full force:
· Think big and rich
· Offer Gratitude
· Discover how money works
· Set goals and be specific
· Work on a budget
· Reduce spending
· Begin investing
· Increase you asset holdings
· Guard your money
The road to success begins with your willingness to embrace change and let go of attitudes and personal traits that no longer support personal development. By removing the old, that which has not produced results, you are actually making room for the new to be born and grow. And if you only dare to dare – you will be way ahead in your pursuit of personal growth.
